Dear Parents and Guardians,
To help our state and nation combat the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Skamania School District is closing Monday, March 16, through Friday, April 24. This was an order from Washington State’s Governor Inslee for schools across the state.
We take any decision to close schools very seriously, recognizing that closures can pose difficulties for families and disrupt children’s education. It was a decision made thoughtfully and with support from a number of district and community leaders. Please review the following important information:
- Activities: Effective immediately and throughout the closure, ALL activities such as drama club, and any after school activities will be canceled.
- Food Services: For students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals, Skamania School District will provide food at the school and distribution sites throughout the closure. The district will inform families next week about the locations and distribution times.
- Make-up Days: Missed school days will be made up at the end of the school year. The make-up days will be: June 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19. The state will issue waivers for the balance of the missed days.
- Updates: We will continue to provide updates on this rapidly developing situation in several ways such as on our website, through our messenger program, and email when possible.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we address this unprecedented situation. We are committed to the safety and well-being of our students, their families, our staff members, volunteers and this community.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and one another. We are a resilient community, and I know that we will get through this challenging time together.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ralph Pruitt, Superintendent/Principal
