Hello Skamania Families,
I wanted to share with you the great news that the Skamania School Board of Directors approved our Student Return Plan proposal! We are so excited to be able to have students back in our classrooms!
The Student Return Plan is a phased in hybrid model, starting with our youngest students. More detailed information will be shared soon, but I wanted you to know the general plan now.
- TK-2nd Grade will begin Thursday, October 1 with in-person learning four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday).
- 3rd-5th Grade will begin two day a week in-person learning as early as Thursday, October 22 on a split Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday schedule.
- 6th-8th Grade will begin two day a week in-person learning as early as Thursday, November 12 on a split Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday schedule.
On Wednesdays when students of all grades remain remote, the entire school will receive a more thorough deep cleaning in addition to the daily cleaning the other days of the week. Students will receive remote guidance and music lessons Wednesdays. Wednesday mornings are also reserved for specialized in-person support for select students by appointment only.

Bus transportation, breakfast, and lunch will be provided at the school on days students are in-person.
Please note that masks will be required at all times for all students and staff.
Our staff has been working diligently with county health officials to ensure the safest return to in-person learning for all students and staff at Skamania School. Please note, the approved plan is dependent upon COVID-19 virus counts in Skamania County remaining in the “moderate” or “low” risk categories of the state Department of Health’s Decision Tree.
The three-week period between each grade band’s return to class allows time to ensure that the systems we have put in place are working, as well as allowing time for staff and students to adjust to their new normal. It is also recommended by health officials to take it slow in the return of students for the best long term success of in-person learning.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions at rpruitt@skamania.k12.wa.us.
Thank you,
Dr. Ralph Pruitt, Superintendent
