District Families,

I am writing to provide an update to families as we head into winter break. First, I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the Skamania School District while Dr. Pruitt was out on medical leave. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and staff here. Dr. Pruitt is recovering nicely and will be returning, as scheduled, on January 3rd.

The district has a very dedicated staff that is working hard to provide a quality education and experience for the students in this school district. I am very impressed with some of the special activities that have taken place here including the Thanksgiving Baskets and the Giving Tree.

Before Thanksgiving break, Nicole and Heather in the office gathered community donations that helped them put together much needed food baskets for 10 families. They had help distributing the baskets just before Thanksgiving and shared how grateful those families were for the support.

The Giving Tree is another activity that gained great momentum through the support of community members, staff, and businesses. It is amazing to see such support for those members of our community who need some assistance. I know they greatly appreciate this help during the holiday season.

December 17 will be our last school day before winter break and students will return on January 3, 2022. We wish each of our families a wonderful winter break and holiday season!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jerry Lewis, Interim Superintendent
