Dear Skamania School Families,

I have a few updates I’d like to share with you all.

Spring 2022 Highlights

In case you missed it, ReadyWA shared a wonderful story about the nPower Girls program featuring our very own Skamania students! You can watch the video and access the whole story in the News page of our website.

On Tuesday, April 19, the PTO welcomed the Community Art Studio of Skamania Mobile Art program. They worked with students to celebrate kindness and create Kindness Rocks to display around the school. Keep your eyes out when you visit the school to see if you can find them all! Thank you to the PTO for organizing such a great event!

Closing out the 2021-2022 School Year

We have just 10 weeks left in this school year. We will be making up our April 11 snow day by extending three Wednesdays to full days. This way, we will not have to add days to the end of the school year. These dates are: April 27, May 4, and May 11.

The current 2021-2022 calendar is available on the website. The last day of school will be June 24, with an early release.

A Superintendent Search Committee is in the process of being selected and will begin reviewing applicants with the school board for the next superintendent/principal. There will be a special board meeting to provide training on the applicant screening process on Thursday, April 21, via Zoom. Applicants will then be ranked at the special board meeting on April 25, also via Zoom. These Zoom meetings will be open to the public. Links are available on the website.

2022-2023 School Year Information

Calendar: Our 2022-2023 School Year Calendar has been posted to the website if you would like to print it out and start planning.

Enrollment is OPEN for 2022-2023, including our preschool programs! If you have a 4 or 5 year old, or know of families in the area who would be interested in our FREE preschool programs, please direct them to our website to enroll. We will also be hosting a TK/K Open House this spring, more details to come.

COVID update: Earlier this month, the state Board of Health announced they will NOT require public school students to have the COVID vaccine for the 2022-2023 school year. All other previously required immunizations will still be required.

And finally, some important dates to be aware of:

As the year comes to a close, I am thankful for each of you, your children, and our staff. You are what makes Skamania School the great place that it is, and we couldn’t do it without you!
