Skamania Families,

We received news from the Washington State Secretary of Health that Skamania County has been approved to move into Phase 2 of Governor Jay Inslee’s Safe Start Plan, joining seven other rural counties that have been approved for Phase 2 reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At Skamania School, our building will remain closed to the public for the safety of our students, staff and families. We will continue distance learning and preparing and distributing meals Monday-Thursday through the end of the school year on June 19. Under the governor’s phased reopening approach, schools will be among the last service to reopen.

As you can see in Washington’s Phased Approach Chart, Phase 2 of the reopening allows for the following to reopen:

  • Additional recreational activities with fewer than five people outside of your household
  • Gatherings of no more than five people outside your household per week
  • Non-essential travel within the proximity of your home.
  • Opening of additional businesses such as remaining manufacturing, new construction, in-store retail purchasing with restrictions and restaurants with tables of no more than five and less than 50% capacity.

I wanted to be sure you were aware of this news. If you have questions, please email me at rpruitt@skamania.k12.wa.us. Thank you and stay safe.

Dr. Ralph Pruitt, Superintendent
