Dear Skamania Families,

I am excited to report that Skamania voters have approved the replacement levy that was on the February 11, 2020 ballot. A preliminary ballot count shows 61.47 percent of Skamania voters voted in favor of the levy, which supports critical programs such as school counseling services, music programs, food service programs, transportation services, some teacher positions, physical education and maintenance and operations needs. The programs and services supported by levy funds are unfunded or underfunded by the state of Washington, making the need for continued local investment essential.

I am extremely grateful for this community for your support for our local schools, our staff and the kids we serve. This investment will directly impact student learning and success for years to come. I want to assure you that the Skamania School District has been an excellent ambassador of the resources taxpayers have invested in the past and will continue to use these funds wisely in the future.

Replacement levy dollars will continue to pay for approximately 12 percent of the Skamania School District budget and support the following programs and services through 2023:

  • School counseling services
  • Maintenance and operations needs
  • Music programs
  • Food service programs
  • Administrative support
  • Physical Education
  • Transportation services
  • Teacher positions not funded by the state

Election results for all elections in the state of Washington will be officially certified on February 21, 2020.

Again, thank you for your support of the Skamania School District and please reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Dr. Ralph H. Pruitt, Superintendent/Principal
