What is a STEM Lighthouse School?

Since 2012, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) has declared several schools across the state to be STEM Lighthouse Schools.  Skamania School is one of the six most recently awarded schools in the State of Washington. These STEM Schools provide technical assistance and advice to other schools and communities in the initial stages of creating a learning environment focused on STEM. They serve as resources and examples of how to implement best practices in the area of STEM that include the following:

  • Small, highly personalized learning communities;
  • An interdisciplinary curriculum with a strong focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) delivered through a project-based instructional approach; and
  • Active partnerships with businesses and the local community to connect learning beyond the classroom.

We are looking forward to your attendance. Please RSVP.

All the best,
Ralph
